I was invited to a dinner this week cooked by Mayada Anjari, a Syrian refugee who since coming to the US has leveraged her cooking skills into business and recently released her own cookbook.
As part of the event, we were treated to an interview with Mayada, a delicious Syrian meal, and a signed copy of her cookbook! I was so inspired by Mayada’s journey – from Syria to refugee camps Jordan to the US, where she began learning English and started her own business.
Hearing Mayada’s story…

Can’t wait to learn some new recipes from her book!

Clockwise, starting at the top: egg fritters, fattoush salad, couscous, pita bread, sautéed zucchini, rice with vermicelli. Yummmmm

Thank YOU, Mayada!
I’m hoping to draw some inspiration from Mayada’s cookbook and learn more about Syrian cooking. Stay tuned! If you’d like to order the book, you can find it here on Amazon.
What about you? Have you ever tried Syrian food?
