Hi there! I’m Marissa and welcome to Marissa Makes Food, a blog that highlights cross-cultural food and travel tips. To date, I have visited 30 countries across the Americas, Africa, and Asia and 34 states in the US. I have also been cooking as long as I can remember, with a strong curiosity for new and international recipes! Sharing my travels and food with the world has been a dream of mine for a long time, and it became a reality when I launched this blog in 2018.

I believe that food is more than just protein, carbs, and fat. What makes food interesting is the stories and culture behind it, whether it’s a family recipe, a favorite restaurant, or the way that food has shaped cultures worldwide (and vice versa). The flavor combinations are endless and so are the stories.

The goal of this blog is to cook foods that I’ve loved in my travels, and traveling to discover new foods and recipes. I hope you’ll follow me on my culinary journey!

The blog is organized two ways: food, where you can find all my recipes, and places, which has travel tips and recipes from different regions.
